Woodland Warrior Wednesday 26th July 2017 -Summer Camp Day 3
Woodland Warrior Wednesday
The weather was a real downpour to start with BUT we did not let this defeat us...we were warriors. All togged up we braved the wild woods on a sensory trail. The water level was higher than usual so I had to carry 21 kids across our stream (only up to my ankles) but the kids thought it was such an adventure! We couldn't turn back when we realised the 'bog of doom' was under water too...instead I carried them one by one over that too! After lots of slipping and sliding we arrived back at camp.
So, as we were already wet and muddy we decided to get even messier and get the clay out! After a quick dry out in the club house and making up our sweet and savoury quesadillas we wrapped these up ready for the camp fire later.
Before lunch we made up some warrior war paints using natural ingredients (raspberries, mud and blackberries), working in pairs to make each other as fearsome as possible, funnily enough everyone ganged up on me!!

After eating our packed lunches and enjoying 'Isabel's 11th birthday cake' around the fire and warming up we made arrows out of willow and oak leaves, whittled the tips with potato peelers and shot them at our targets.
An afternoon followed of den building, creating warrior names, designing warrior symbols using charcoal pencils made on our campfire. Hot choc and scrummy quesadillas we a real fave! The day ended with our old favourite the 'go find it''game. All in all a very wet but adventurous day.
