Muddy Boots Monday -Summer Camp Day 1

Muddy boots Monday 24th July 2017

Today we launched our month long summer camps and it certainly lived up to its name. The forest walk consisted of mud slopes, rope climbing, bog hopping, stream dipping, fighting off nettles and brambles to get round our perimeter AND that was only in the first half hour!!
We then heated up lard on our campfire, mixed with bird treats to create orange and peanut butter bird feed hangers- used knives to whittle sticks. The little ones made 'blobsters' out of clay with their scavenger hunt findings while the older lads were happy to whittle away and make some great tinder for our afternoon camp fire.

We all worked in pairs to make friendship bracelets, listened to Minnie tell us all about dream catchers while we weaved our willow branches.
Games included 'Go find it' and sticky elbows. After lunch we built a pretty impressive bug towers, Kev McCloud would be proud. So off we set on a mini beast hunt back down to the wild woods, we survived the jungle again to introduce our new found beasties to their new home.
This was topped off by a campfire of toasting marshmallows on Ash branches and introducing our tribe to 's’mores'.....all in all, I'd say that was a pretty awesome first day
