Enchanted Tuesday 1st August 2017 Summer Camp Day 6

Enchanted Tuesday

There was some wonderful and weird goings on today at the Foxlowe. Things appeared from no where, magic happened before our very eyes. We didn't see anything but we believed it to be the little people having some fun with us.

Our tribe has grown and so has the confidence of our Forest Schoolers. It was lovely to see the team work that went on today, new friendships formed and some super leadership skills from our oldest kids. This is what Forest School is all about, mixing with people you would never have otherwise met, mingling with different age groups and working with adults in a completely different setting than within the usual classroom walls.

We started the morning with some icebreakers and quickly set to work bug hunting. This garden is truly magnificent for mini wildlife. The kids loved it, working in teams to search and identify millipedes, wood lice, ladybirds and super teeny tiny snails.
Back inside to clean up and make some camp fire treats for later- sweet or savoury quesadillas ( again these were a massive hit). Deborah put on yet more fun and funky yoga this time the theme was magic which fitted in well with today.

Back out on the lawn, it took ages for the kids to realise that some friendly but very shy pixies had left their potions behind and these all needed adding to, to create some creative and unique magical liquids. The outcomes were pretty 'wow' and even I was blown away by the thought that had gone into each design, name and special powers!!!

Still no rain so we had lunch on the lawn. Afterwards we used natural forest materials around the Foxlowe to create some pixie paint brushes. Everyone had the chance to create something unique and they then used these later (sitting under the big fir tree) to paint and mark make with- with super results! The afternoon was taken up with weaving magic willow Wands around the campfire, a short walk into Brough park, more bughunting, toasting our quesadillas and finishing off the afternoon in sunshine with sticky fingers and chocolatey mouths, yes you've guessed it- more 'smores'!!
